I took my mother along for the 2nd annual Health & Wellness Fair this morning. We were kept busy by the many vendors, each with enthusiastic health experts who were eager to teach us something new. One minute, we were eating an organic brownie; the next, I found myself seated with my legs raised, having my feet evaluated by a podiatrist.
One of the most beneficial activities the fair offered was the spinal evaluation conducted by chiropractors. My mother and I had our spine and nerves checked, and we were able to get some answers as to why we feel the pain that we do. We learned that often times, if our wrist hurts, or even our knees, the source of the problem could be from our spine. Therefore, our entire body will benefit from a proper evaluation and treatment of the spine.
Along with a brain-full of information, I came home with a bunch of free samples of creams including those for sun protection, facial cleansers, and joint relief. I also purchased a book titled, Core Training Anatomy by the author herself, a pilates specialist and physical therapist, Abigail Ellsworth. This book helps us to understand what’s going on in our core during the hundreds of core exercises displayed in the book. I’ll be focusing on these exercises and posting workouts in the Fitness section of the blog.
What topped the day off was bringing home one of my favorite desserts—strawberry rhubarb pie! It was so delicious!
